What art is, in reality, is this missing link, not the links which exist. It's not what you see that is art; art is the gap.
- Marcel Duchamp
In response to our disjointed world, I often go back to the elemental aspects of life like air and water that at once sustain us and exist beyond us. Through the things I make, I’m balancing between the drive to materialise these connections and a state of “floatation”.
I am fascinated by the rhythmical movement of lines, points and contours and how they reveal the empty space around them. Beside using paper and canvas as a marking surface, I draw in space using materials like clay and textile and sometimes through performance. Often, I install the objects in a domestic or public environment, in the attempt to activate these interactions.
Originally from the French west coast, I am marked by seascapes and saline atmospheres. Having then lived in Montreal in Canada for 20 years, I juxtaposed the experiences of a multicultural urban environment with those of raw natural spaces of Quebec. I am currently based in Innsbruck, Austria, a small transitional town in the heart of Europe imbued with an alpine identity.
